October List Sandwiches and September wrapup

We only saw 3 List posts in September (and zero Random Sandwiches, which I’ll need to work on), but in our defense, it seems silly that Croque-Monsieur and Croque-Madame were included as separate sandwiches. Once you’ve made a croque-monsieur, adding an egg to it doesn’t seem to require an entire additional writeup. So I’m pleased with our output last month, and a big thank you to Crit for getting right on that croque post

Moving on, here’s what October looks like for us:

We’ve got Cucumber sandwiches–the English version pictured above looks different than the type I’ll often see turn up at parties (cocktail rye, cream cheese, single slice of cuke, dill) but I imagine it’s similar in flavor. There’s the Cudighi, a type of Italian sausage-inna-bun native to the upper peninsula of Michigan. And of course the iconic Dagwood. Just when I thought this diet thing might work out.

Anybody who wants to tackle one of these sandwiches, step up and let us know!

In the meantime, something called “Bunny Chow” has popped up in the Wikipedia List and already been removed. I thought we’d have another make-up entry for a moment. Truth be told, I think they made the right call by removing it (unlike their unreasonable stance against including the hot dog), but I might take a crack at this thing some day anyway, if only to have an excuse to make my favorite South African condiment, Chakalaka, again.

Sandwich Tribunal

The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
