October List Sandwiches and September Wrapup

September was an interesting month for the Tribunal, with 2 stone classics and an exotic sandwich out of left field that still felt like a classic. We explored the Reuben, and the numerous ways to get it wrong (as well as my thoughts on how to get it right!) We also got into roast beef sandwiches in several of their innumerable variations. Finally, we explored the Singaporean Roti John, an omelet-infused baguette festooned with sauces and vegetables. These were some delicious sandwiches, and we’re almost sorry the month is over.

Except that October is bringing some exciting new sandwiches of its own.

Rou jia mo is a Chinese flatbread stuffed with stewed meat, similar to the previously-covered Donkey Burger but featuring meats that are more readily available. Ruisleipä is a Finnish style rye bread, open-face with butter and toppings much like Smørrebrød or Butterbrot. Runza is a savory pastry popular in Nebraska, stuffed with meat, cabbage, and cheese. I couldn’t be more excited about these three sandwiches, even if I’m not entirely sure that the Runza counts as one.

Changes to the List

Nothing this month, just some vandalism about the hot dog’s status as a sandwich

Sandwich Tribunal

The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
