November List Sandwiches and October Wrapup

Hello, Tribunal readers, and welcome to November! As usual, we have three new sandwiches to discover in this new month, and we couldn’t be more excited. First, though, we should do a quick rundown of our sandwiches in October.

October was some month! The sandwiches from the List were not all spectacular, but we made our own fun. From the list, we covered Toast sandwiches, consisting of seasoned toast between buttered bread. Not a fan! We also tried German Toast Hawaii, an open-face sandwich of ham, pinapple, and melted cheese. Delicious! Our last List sandwich of the month was the Toastie, a type of grilled cheese sandwich made with an electric sandwich iron. They were good as well. But we also took a couple of field trips this month, meeting up with Dennis Lee at the Hermosa sandwich shop in Chicago, and heading out to Sandwich, Illinois, for their National Bologna Day celebration. All in all, it was an above-average month at the Tribunal, where every month is pretty great!

And now, November’s sandwiches!

First up for November are Tofu sandwiches. I’m sure the possibilities are endless with these, but right now I can’t see past getting another lemongrass tofu banh mi from Nhu Lan! Next is Tongue toast, a combination of sauteed beef tongue and scrambled eggs served as an open-face sandwich. I wonder if there’s any place around here that serves these? Finally, we’ll be checking out the Torta, the Mexican ur-sandwich, and chasing down several of its variants I imagine.

There are some great sandwiches ahead of us this month and I can’t wait!

Changes to the List

Nothing really, minor edits, minor vandalism, no fun new sandwiches to try.

Sandwich Tribunal

The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.

You probably already know this, but Burrito Alegre (127th & Pulaski) has an excellent torta milanesa. Order in advance – though their food is great, they are not fast.
