June List Sandwiches and May Wrapup

Hi everybody! Usually I manage to get these posted on the first day of the month, every once in a while it slips to the second. I think this is the latest I’ve ever gotten around to one of these posts, and even though they’re just bookkeeping for the most part, I do apologize. There are some exciting sandwiches coming in June that I want to tell you about.

But first, we must say goodbye to May, which had some spectacular sandwiches of its own. I managed to not ruin my son’s graduation party with my take on Italian Porchetta sandwiches, complete with some spectacular homemade ciabatta. We talked about Porilainen, a Finnish take on the humble bologna sandwich. And finally, Mindy and I traveled to Cleveland to see what the fuss is about their signature Polish Boy sandwich. It was a heck of a good month. June looks to be pretty great as

June will see us taking on the Macanese pork chop bun, a crisp and juicy marinated pork chop nestled in a Portuguese bread roll. We’ll look into the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, something I’ve written about numerous times on the site already. And perhaps our Australian contingent will chime in on their prawn roll, a takeout standard in the land of the upside-down.

Changes to the List

May was a pretty quiet month in terms of edits to the List. However, there was one major addition, and in terms of the alphabet it would be something we’d cover in just a month or two.

  • Queen Alexandra sandwich was added on May 27th. A quick google search shows that this concept exists outside the Wikipedia page. It’s a sandwich of chicken salad and boiled tongue. Very Edwardian.

Sandwich Tribunal

The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
