Sick-person sandwich.

I’ve been hammered really hard by a cold for over a week. When I’m sick, I like to eat a lot of garlic in the simplest way possible. So when I finally woke up this morning, I got two massive slices of oat bread and chucked them in the toaster. While they were toasting, I grated 3 cloves of locally grown Monaro Red garlic on my funky little Japanese grater, and retrieved half a Hass avocado from the fridge. The toast popped and I offered one slice to the 6 year old. He chose avocado and Vegemite as his topping. On mine I put butter, Vegemite, the three cloves of grated garlic, the remaining avocado, a big splat of Sambal Oelek (I like this one, as it’s just chillies and salt.), and a squeeze of lime. It seems like it’ll do its job.

Crit

I'm a mother of two boys. I work selling organic produce to gullible locals, and in my spare time I run as far as I can. Oh, and I live in Australia, married to a US citizen.

That looks like it’d clean you out alright. Your sinuses I mean. Though maybe a hit of horseradish would help as well.

Sambal Oelek is great stuff. Can’t hardly keep a jar of it at my house though, with Damian around 🙂

    Hope you feel better, Crit!
